At SBG South Shields we offer Brazilian Jiu Jitsu that transcends environments, body types, age and gender. It’s important that we offer the fundamentals as we look to increase the effectiveness for each of our members/students in a fight or competition. We don’t encourage kids to pull guard, although this increases the chances of winning a match and getting on a podium we prioritise takedowns and trips. It’s important our children have skills for competition that will also aid them in conflict as often a child will not be able to distinguish the difference. This past weekend, professional fighters Milad Ahady & Adam Proctor both won Gold medals at Grappling Industries in Manchester competing in the Gi. Proctor also won the Advanced NoGi Division for under 210lbs, the Cage Warriors welter weight fighter has 10 wins in Mixed Martial Arts by submission. Also picking up Gold medals was juniors Alex Williams & Josh Tyre alongside Coach Alex Enlund who won the under 185lbs Brown Belt Division. The following day 3 SBG amateurs faced tough competition from Spartans Gym, Middlesbrough Fight Academy and PSW at MMA event Rise and Conquer. All 3 fights finished with Submission showing at SBG what we offer works on the mat and in the cage. Hebburn teenagers Luke Moore and Billy Haswell both picked up first round finishes and Jolene Ross from Newcastle finished her fight with 3 seconds remaining after dominating the previous rounds.
